What should you do if your proxy is refusing connection

 Proxy servers are regularly

benefited from appreciating obscurity while riding the Internet and managing the cost of assurance and security to the character of the client. Notwithstanding, at times the proxy settings of a specific Operating System (OS, for example, Windows struggle with that of the internet browser, explicitly Firefox. As a result, Firefox at certain times is not able to load Web pages but instead displays an error message saying the proxy server is refusing the connection.

It is important to note that like competitors Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox is also a free, open-source Web browser. However, unlike its competitors, it does not constantly rely on Windows settings for network connectivity and configuration. For this reason, when certain modifications on the hardware are done while personalizing the browser, conflicts with Windows settings may occur including that of the proxy server.

It is therefore important to note that to effectively use a proxy server with Firefox user must be able to configure the browser's settings. Otherwise, failure to correctly configure the Firefox proxy settings may result in the error message "proxy server is refusing connection". Should this error message appear, you may clear the error or troubleshoot the problem by going to the main Firefox option screen and clicking on the "Advanced" tab, and choose "Network". Then click under Connections the item which says "Settings" and the proxy server window will be opened. Carefully review and check that the IP address and port listed on the HTTP are correct. Compare it to the connection settings registered on the company website which are normally sent to you by email at the time of subscription. This should correct the error. However, if after taking this step, the error message remains, then the user should need to contact the customer service of the commercial proxy server service.

Should a conflict occur between the Windows settings and that of Firefox due to different proxy settings, one of the areas affected is the uninstalling of the existing proxies. What usually happens is when a proxy server is only a part of multi-functional application software such as that of Internet security suite or Firewall, the proxy may be removed from the Windows settings but not from Firefox. Therefore, it is imperative that the proxy settings in Firefox are opened and click on "No proxy". After which, a browser may be restarted to resume browsing websites.
